    what is yumeshipping?

    what are yumejoshi? firstly, as an umbrella term, yumejoshi (lit. dreaming girls) are generally girls who like shipping chars with themselves aka, they "dream" about being inside a certain series. It originates from "dream novels", fan fiction where you can change the heroine's name to your own and experience being alongside your favourite characters and forming relationships with them. under this falls another two main categories: 1. those who like to self-insert into an original character that acts as a stand in for themselves 2. those who like to create an original character that is not meant to be themselves and watch on the sidelines

    what is selfshipping?

    the act of shipping oneself (or a self-insert) with a fictional character, similar to a canon x canon pairing. may be romantic, platonic, familial, or otherwise in nature. a selfshipper is someone who partakes in this. - from mae's selfship carrd

    what is the difference?

    there isn't much of a difference if anything selfshipping falls under yumeshipping but not all yumes are inserting themselves into their ships ^_^ oc x canon also falls under yumeshipping!
